Avila Golf & Country Club is one of America’s most exclusive and beautiful Country Clubs located in the Tampa Bay Area. A classic and traditional club, Avila was built in 1980 offering golfers and sports enthusiasts the luxuries and anonymity of a Country Club lifestyle. Bob Sierra’s vision combined with the design talents of Jack Nicklaus created an incomparable championship golf course and community.

 

Avila offers a vast list of amenities including state-of-the-art practice facilities for golfers, tennis pavilion welcoming all levels of play on six well-groomed har-tru tennis courts, fully equipped pro shops, junior programs, fitness center and pool pavilion as well as a variety of social activities throughout the year.

 

Avila is the epitome of elegance. Inspired by a 16th Century walled city in Spain, Avila's sprawling and lavish homes are dedicated to enduring quality and elegant living.

 

It was in the 1970’s that Tampa resident, Robert (Bob) Sierra, began the development of a dream that he had for his native Hillsborough county. He merged 900 acres of beautiful land located 10 miles north of the city. The property was laced with natural lakes, graced with stands of oak, pine and cypress trees, conservation areas midst Florida orange groves. His vision soon became clear. Combining his love of golf and course creation with his knowledge of country club community development, he, with the help of his three sons, John (Hi), Jr., Stuart, and Michael, began molding his dream community.

 

Named after the famed fortress city of Avila in Spain, all of the streets carried names of Spanish cities, as well. The country club was designed with a clear nod to Spanish architecture and reinforced the exclusive nature. A championship golf course was laid out and re-designed by Jack Nicklaus in 1988. The course has been and continues to be the home of many fine tournaments, catering to top world players, as well as the residents and members.

 

Avila’s blend of elegance and old world charm welcomes members and their guests to a superb dining experience. Avila’s Clubhouse features several distinct dining venues. The Main Dining Room offers panoramic views of Avila’s immaculate golf course and serves as the perfect setting for Wednesday Family Night themed buffets, an elaborate Sunday Champagne Brunch, and formal dining. The Vista Grille is an ideal place to enjoy a casual breakfast lunch, or dinner before or after golf or tennis. The Terrace provides the perfect get-together spot when the weather welcomes you outdoors for al fresco dining.

 

Smaller private parties can enjoy the intimate and elegant Guisando Room or the old world appointments of The Private Dining Room. Other spaces accommodate groups of all sizes. The Grand Atrium and Main Dining Room are the perfect setting for receptions and large parties.

 

Avila also offers home delivery of food and beverages to members residing within the Avila community. During normal kitchen hours members simply need to call in their order and within a few minutes can be enjoying one of the best amenities about Avila from their home.

 

Avila continues to develop community areas for all the neighborhood residents to enjoy safely. To that goal, the Avila Property Owners Association continues to work hard to maintain the community’s natural beauty, uncompromising excellence, and sophistication.
